October 2018 , Nordhausen | As of 2019, fuel cell buses will be driving through Wuppertal: the project is founded by the European Union, Federal Republic of Germany and the Land North Rhine-Westphalia and aims to contribute to the reduction of emissions. The Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (responsible municipal utilities) and AWG Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH Wuppertal (waste management company in Wuppertal) aims to make local public transport even more environmentally friendly. To ensure that the new buses do not run out of 'gas', Wuppertal is investing in a hydrogen infrastructure produced by the company Maximator GmbH. 15. November 2016 , Nordhausen | Compared with liquid fuels, natural gas is a cost-efficient and more environmentally friendly propulsion option. Motor vehicles powered by natural gas or hydrogen require special fuel tanks that need to be light, but simultaneously extremely strong, because the gas they contain is subject to high pressure. In order to be able to ensure that such tanks operate safely, manufacturers need to test them in terms of pressure resistance and leak-tightness. For one such manufacturer, Maximator GmbH in Nordhausen, Germany has developed a special pressure testing system, the world's first process-optimized end-of-line test stand for large-volume composite tanks. December 2015 , Nordhausen | The PLASTINUM© GIM C system that was developed by Linde und Maximator uses carbon dioxide (CO2) for injection moulding (GIM) and is being used in series production for the first time. The two companies announced this in a statement at this year’s Fakuma plastics exhibition. The company Engel Formenbau und Spritzguss GmbH, which is located in the town of Sinsheim in Baden, began using this procedure in summer 2015 to manufacture high-quality plastic handles, and has been able to reduce cycle times for the production of a refrigerator handle by 36 percent.
