As of 2019, fuel cell buses will be driving through Wuppertal: the project is founded by the European Union, Federal Republic of Germany and the Land North Rhine-Westphalia and aims to contribute to the reduction of emissions. The Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (responsible municipal utilities) and AWG Abfallwirtschaftsgesellschaft mbH Wuppertal (waste management company in Wuppertal) aims to make local public transport even more environmentally friendly. To ensure that the new buses do not run out of 'gas', Wuppertal is investing in a hydrogen infrastructure produced by the company Maximator GmbH. As a general contractor, the system specialist from Nordhausen is responsible for the planning, implementation and installation of the complete system and is therefore entering a highly promising market.

In conjunction with the Biochemistry Department of the University of Zurich (UZH), Maximator GmbH, Nordhausen, has developed an innovative high-pressure system for the production or amplification of organic material like DNA, RNA or viruses. Maximator's HPL6 working principal is based on the principle of the "French press" and is used for particularly gentle high-pressure cell lysis.

Compared with liquid fuels, natural gas is a cost-efficient and more environmentally friendly propulsion option. Motor vehicles powered by natural gas or hydrogen require special fuel tanks that need to be light, but simultaneously extremely strong, because the gas they contain is subject to high pressure. In order to be able to ensure that such tanks operate safely, manufacturers need to test them in terms of pressure resistance and leak-tightness. For one such manufacturer, Maximator GmbH in Nordhausen, Germany has developed a special pressure testing system, the world's first process-optimized end-of-line test stand for large-volume composite tanks.
